Can You Hear The Difference Between a Bechstein, Steinway and

I don't know much about Bechstein or Bösendörfer, but Yamahas that I might purchase are models GC1, GC2, C1, C2 or C3. Is it worth it to pay what a new Steinway, Bechstein or Bösendorfer costs? Is it worth to pay for a professionally overhauled instrument? I'd get an instrument 30% to 40% cheaper but, are there drawbacks I am missing?
